There are a lot of places to visit in and around Daet making daet an ideal base to travel from . Most places involve getting wet but dont forget its hot here so getting wet swimming is no big chore .

Especially if you visit the beautiful clear water beaches with fine white sand or lush tropical forests hiding waterfalls you will find it irresistable .

Calaguas and other islands are some of the places to visit around daet

Places To Visit In Daet

There are a few places to visit in and around Daet and things to do but apart from Bagasbas Beach with its surfing and kiteboarding there are not many other main attractions in Daet.

Hah hah thats the beuaty of it you see , tourists can come and enjoy local hospitality at its purest and simplest and experience the culture of the true pinoy .

Philippines Travel Guide, About Philippines, Where is the Philippines

And to mention not having to pay over the top high priced entrance fees at the tourist spots , except for a tricycle fare most places are free . Mostly what visitors do is eat drink and swim and just chill and be cool in Bicol .

The places to go visit in daet could all be seen in oneĀ  afternoon really by driving around in a tricycle . These places include ;

  • The First Jose Rizal Monument
  • St John The Baptist Church
  • Kalayaan Park
  • Provincial Capital
  • Statue of Jose Rizal and Wenceslao Q Vinsons
  • Museo Bulawan Museum
  • Daet Municipal Building
  • Pabico Ancestral House

Islands Close To Daet

Some of the islands close to daet are possible to visit in 1 day but an over night stay would be better . These islands are true paradise islands and are only a short boat ride away .

Island hopping further south at the survivor islands and Catanduanes would be a weekend end break at least to fully enjoy the places .

The Town of Jose Panganiban

At the Municipal Hall at Jose Panganiban you can find the remains of the Martyr and a Monument to him . Its about 50k from Daet to get there and then not far to the Pag-asa beach for a picnic and swim .

Or you can drive 10k from there to a white sand beach for a picnic and swim at Bulalakao Beach in Luklukan .

Another idea is to visit one of the waterfalls whilst you are in this area like the Pag-asa Falls, Binauaang Falls, Malatap Falls and the Maligaya Falls or the Twin Falls near Sta Elena

The Town Of Mercedes

Mercedes is definately a place to visit close to Daet you should go . Its The main fishing port of the province and is well worth experiencing the traditional whispering to buy the fish , get there early before 6am ! You can reach this place by tricycle for p100 return .

It is also one of the places to get a boat over to the islands . There town fiesta is always a good one (nice seafoods) its held 13th june and called caracol the towns full of fishermen and the bay full of there boats .

Lanot Beach with its spring is another day out which requires taking a boat . Colasi Falls has a drop of 25m and is set in an idealic forest , but it will take you 3 hours to hike there . Still fancy that ? ok take a jeepney to Baronage Colasi and Barangay Colas is the place .

The Town of Vinsons

This town used to be called Indan but was renamed Vinsons to honour Wenceslao Q Vinsons who was a local hero during the Japanese war . His old residence is now a shrine and a public library featuring his memorabilia .

Also in the town the Baroque style 400+ year old St Peter the Apostle Church stands . This is also one of the places to get a boat to the islands .

It is possible to get a special fare tricycle there (most dont like) or get a jeepney from the centro .

Naga City

Naga is a more developed place than Daet and has a Manila type mall , you can take a bus or van there easily and it will take 2 hours for the van (no smoking) or 3 hours via ordinary bus (smoking) .

If you take the bus when you arrive walk to the van terminal down the road , here you can get a free shuttle bus to C W C a large wakeboading resort .

Albay City

Here in Albay you will see Mt Mayon Volcano and at the foot in the shadows of it , its worth taking a look at the old ruins of a church and some native handicraft souvenir hunting .

The volcano is active and its a perfect cone shape , it is possible to ride up there on quad bikes(atv) or on the cheaper back seat of a normal bike with a driver .
For this day out you would need to rent a van and driver for the day which is quite easy expect the journey south to take about 3 hours and i guess from p2500 for the van .

Sorsogon City

This is possible as a long day out but better as an over night trip . Here from the town of Donsol you can go swimming with whale sharks (butanding) and also go on a firefly tour .

Expect 4 hours driving or longer , if you go by bus leave early . Get a cheap room in a motel in the city and do the firefly tour . Next day swim with the massive vegetarian whale sharks thenĀ come back to good ol Daet .

Caramoan Catanduanes and Masbate City

You might like to go visit the survivor islands of Caramoan or surf the famous Majestics surf break at Catanduanes . Masbate city has large fish santuaries with massive manta rays .

All these places to visit are easily reached from Daet , but the latter places would be more of a weekend break rather than a day out .
